Tarangire National Park’s international popularity is attributed to its largest elephant population in Tanzania, especially during the dry season from June to October. As the terrain becomes parched, massive herds, each comprising around 300 elephants, congregate along the Tarangire River, digging the dry riverbed in search of underground streams. Even in the wet season, when pastures and water abound, the numerous elephants make them easily spotted across the park.
