Serengeti National Park

SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Serengeti National Park is situated in northern Tanzania, covering an expansive area of approximately 5,700 square miles (14,763 square km). It extends into Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve to the north. The park’s most famous attraction is the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores undertake an epic annual journey in search of food and water. Serengeti National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a critical conservation area with natural treasure that combines breathtaking landscapes with unrivaled wildlife experiences.

The park comprises three distinct sections. The renowned southern/central area, Seronera Valley, known as Serengit by the Maasai, features classic savannah landscapes with acacia trees and abundant wildlife. Moving westward along the Grumeti River, the environment transitions to more wooded areas and dense bush. The northern region, bordering Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve in the Lobo area, is the least frequented part.
